Kāika Reo project
What is Kāika Reo Fund?
The KMK Kaika Reo Fund is an initiative to support clusters of KMK whānau and Kāi Tahu communities to strengthen the use of te reo as an everyday language of communication within the home.
The fund will consider funding initiatives focused on learning and using te reo as an everyday informal language within the home and raising tamariki with te reo. The fund will give preference to:
- Whānau clusters residing in Te Waipounamu
- Initiatives focussing on everyday language within the home
- Clusters of whānau that are practicing intergenerational transmission
- Clusters of whānau registered with Kotahi Mano Kāika
Level of funding:
The maximum amount any applicant can apply for towards a project is $3500.00
Who can apply?
Applications will be considered from individuals who are registered Ngāi Tahu members.
Individuals will be applying on behalf of a Kotahi Mano Kāika cluster group within their community. A cluster group will consist of at least 5 Kotahi Mano Kāika registered households, with at least one parent/adult from each household being an active participant in the initiative.
The fund could be used to support the following:
- Activities / initiatives for enhancing and developing te reo within the home
- Language classes – venue and tutor fee
- Guest Speaker fee
- Travel associated with group outings (not for participants to attend classes)
- Resource administration costs i.e. photocopying, printing.
- Venue Hire
